Course Duration : 34 hours

Produce more than 10 fabulous designer jewellery creations during this course

  • Learn design conception for complex thread and wire styles
  • Understand how multiple strands relate to one another within the design.
  • Perfect complex thread techniques such as "adding in a thread"
  • Master the finer aspects of attaching multiple strands to clasps
  • Become skilled in manipulating various wires and sculpting desired shapes
  • Practice stone-setting techniques using only wire
  • Create wire cages and forms to securely hold minerals in jewellery designs
  • Produce solid clasps and light-weight earring parts to embellish creations

* Included in this course are a quantity of natural minerals, freshwater pearls, manmade materials, Swarovski crystals and pearls and a variety of more challenging materials without drill holes. A selection of threads and hard and soft wires in different gauges for the various projects will be supplied.

Course Synopsis:

Designed to supplement the professional stringing techniques learned throughout the Certificate in ‘Designer Jewellery using Thread & Wire’ course, this advanced program introduces more challenging multiple-strand thread designs and intricate wire creations which extend the creative potential of the professional thread & wire jewellery designer.

Students begin by embracing multiple strand design concepts and understanding the four fundamental thread styles: Straight, Tiered, Twisted, One-to-Multiple. Training is approached scientifically with procedures that ensure perfect results. As each stringing convention is learned, students focus on both technique, speed and efficiency of design and fabrication to compete in today's growing market.

Understanding the intricacies of advanced thread design, students progress to sophisticated wire working techniques that allow them to set themselves apart from other designers who are only able to apply market available components to their jewellery.
